What if I don't know how to teach kids?

The Number One response we hear when we ask someone to volunteer in the Children Ministry is, "Kids aren't my thing." But when we really start digging what most people really mean is "I don't know how to work with kids. I'm intimidated." Even though introducing kids to Christ is a big job we don't have to be overwhelmed by it.

The good news is that if you love God and love kids, the rest can be learned . It's true that some people have a natural talent for working with kids, but for most of us, it's a skill we have to learn, just like anything else. Here's some other good stuff you should know about the Children Ministry:

We'll train you - Everything you'll need to know, we'll show you how to do. From teaching, leading worship, discipline, safety, communication, and security even to how to talk to kids and build relationship; we can give you the tools to relate to kids and the confidence to use them!

You won't be alone - Our goal is to have enough volunteers that everyone works with a team and never has to minister alone. This creates a "safety net" and makes working in the ministry tons more fun!

We were all kids once - We have the advantage of having "been there", no matter where the kids are. We can, on some level, relate to what they're feeling, thinking, and wanting.

Kids want to be loved and have fun - All we need to do is listen to them, talk with them, and play with them, and they'll let us into their world in no time.
